Kittiwakes are back. I saw my first April 9th. Went out yesterday to pull shrimp pots. Saw a mountain goat arross Passge Canal from Whittier. The thousands of Kiitiwakes are roosting nearby. Did not do stupendous on prawns, maybe half a gallon after cleaned. Nice snack for four of us. Snow down to water line and no talk of bears yet.

We had about 370 inches of snow this winter. In some places around town it's over halfway up the phone poles.

Having some bright, sunny days. Past couple of weekends, snow machines have been coming through the tunnel. Lot's of awesome mountain riding all around Whittier.

Eshamy district commercial opener from 8am Monday - 8am Tuesday, excluding Main Bay sub district. May be an opportunity for some great catching before next Main Bay opener.

Fishing Report

No Bananas group came in for fuel Friday. Reported large schools of Sockeye in Main Bay. Cost Recovery to start Monday. Snagging should be pretty easy until then.

No Bananas also caught six Halibut off my "Honey Hole" waypoint mid-way down Knight Passage.

Local shore fishers have reported a small school of sockeye cruising off the rocks along side the road towards the tunnel. A few people are sight casting snag hooks. The more patient have caught a couple.

Shrimping has been better deeper between Billings Glacier Delta and Poe Bay . 500-700 foot

Fishing Report

I made a quick run to the top of Culross Pass and to the PWSAC hatchery in Lake Bay on Esther Island. Left Whittier after 3pm. Arrived at Culross near Low tide and made one drift looking for stray 'Butt. Nothing.

Crossed Wells Passage to Lake Bay. Seiner had corked off entrance. Watched them fish for about 15min. When they brought their net in we entered Bay. Found a large school of nickle bright chums all the way in at the head. Snagged four and headed for home.

Fishing Report

Halibut plentiful around Perry Island and in Knight Passage. No Bananas group of three limited yesterday on my "Honey Hole" way-point.

Commercial opener ended yesterday at the Main Bay Sockeye Hatchery. Give the fish a few days to replenish.

Schools of jumpers inside the top of Esther Passage, probably Coghill Sockeyes.

Lots of Big prawns East of Billings Glacier Delta. Go near steep rock wall in at least 400' water. Lots of other bouy's, just jump in line.

Gray Whale has been holding near South East corner of Perry Island. I watched her about a week ago and Toy Boat group saw her again on the 11th.
